There are so many things I could tell you about my mum and how fabulous she was but here are just a few words that i wrote for the service. I owe her so much. She will always be missed and always loved xxxx Tribute to mum from service by Emily Mum and I were never very good at saying goodbye to each other, and although now is the time to say a difficult farewell I know that she will always be with me, in my heart, in all I go on to do. She was a beautiful mother who allowed me to follow my wishes and dreams. Mum touched many lives with her wonderful personality and sense of fun and she has played a part in making us all who we are today. For me, amongst other things, she has instilled a deep love of animals and the great outdoors. Mum is responsible for my passion for horses and riding and without her I would not have experienced the joy that this companionship can bring. She had a real fondness for wild places and nature and I have been fortunate to share many of these places with her. In the days following her death we have walked along the Orwell river. The smell of the salty weed, the calls from the curlews and gulls, and the rustle of the breeze in the reeds all bring me comfort and memories. This is where I remember my mum and as I walk i can imagine her footsteps falling alongside me. We pause to watch honking geese fly past on their way to roost, to listen to an owl call, to pick blackberries, and to see the pink evening light fade. All things she has taught me to love. I will miss many things. Long chats about everything, and about nothing, having her beside me, laughing together, her support and encouragement, her strength, and sharing good food and family. The family will go on supporting one another, and we will create new memories, and mum shall never be far from our thoughts. Mum wanted us to celebrate her life. She also wanted us to go on living our lives. And while I need a short pause in mine to come to terms with the loss of my mum, my friend, I know that I will go on and do this. I will grow stronger and make the most of the opportunities that life offers and i will remember her in all I do. Tell people why you loved my mum, talk about her, remember her daily, carry on doing the things you shared with her and in this way she will live on in us all always.
